This Is Not A Tree- 17th October 22

An ash tree in three stages of its life in a year.

The World Tree, Yggdrasil, in Norse mythology, is thought to have branches reaching to the heavens, and roots running down into the Underworld. A squirrel runs up and down the tree, delivering messages 'from the serpent gnawing at the roots to the eagle in the canopy'.

In Viking mythology, it is thought that children suffering with an illness, or an injury should pass naked through a cleft in the tree. As the cleft heals, it is thought that so shall the child. As only one person is to bond with a tree, it is understandable that they are extremely protective over it. If harm comes to their tree, it is thought to harm or effect the haling of the child.

Ash wood is commonly used for firewood.

Owls, redstarts, woodpeckers and hazel dormice are only a few of the animals that find home in the ash tree.

White ash trees grow red/orange leaves in the autumn.

Ash wood is commonly used for tool handles.

Log ends after being chopped down.

The tree main types of ash tree. The Green Ash, The Black Ash and The White Ash.

I believe this task was a success and has produced a lot of powerful imagery.
